Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2, 2025

At RememberBill, we prioritize your privacy above all else. Our approach is simple: your data stays on your device. This Privacy Policy explains how the RememberBill Chrome Extension ("RememberBill," "Extension," "we," "our," or "us") handles your information.

1. Local-First Philosophy

RememberBill is built on a local-first approach to privacy:

2. Information We Don't Collect

To be absolutely clear, RememberBill does not collect:

RememberBill proxies Google Analytics via Measurement Protocol; we truncate IP addresses before transmission and do not store them at any point.

We never sell or share any data—anonymous or otherwise—with third parties.

3. Optional Analytics

To help improve the Extension, we offer an optional analytics program:

For more information about how Google processes this data, please see Google's Privacy Policy.

The extension sends data only to https://www.google-analytics.com/mp/collect; it does not download or execute any other remote code.

You can view your current analytics preference and change it anytime by:

  1. Opening RememberBill
  2. Clicking the Settings icon (⚙️) in the top right
  3. Going to the "Analytics & Privacy" section
  4. Toggling "Allow Anonymous Usage Data" on or off

4. How Your Data Is Stored

RememberBill uses your browser's built-in local storage mechanisms:

Exported JSON or CSV backups are saved un-encrypted to the location you choose; please store or transmit them securely.

5. Browser Permissions

RememberBill requires the following browser permissions:

We request only the minimum permissions necessary for functionality.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally:

To delete analytics data tied to your anonymous ID, email contact@rememberbill.co with the ID shown in Settings → Privacy.

7. Security

While we've designed RememberBill with security in mind:

8. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom have the right to access, correct, or erase any personal data we hold. Because we store only anonymous analytics, exercising these rights generally means requesting deletion of your anonymous ID, which we will honor within 30 days.

California residents may likewise request deletion of any information associated with their anonymous ID. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@rememberbill.co with the anonymous ID shown in Settings → Privacy.

9. Children's Privacy

RememberBill is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

Major changes will be announced via an in-extension banner or release notes.
